Mal Schulstad & Cindy
Mal started riding mountain bikes in earnest back in the early 90s as a substitute for surfing. An avid outdoor adrenaline enthusiast in his youth, he continued to explore the limits of mountain bike riding until he settled down and started a family, 20 years ago. After turning 40 Mal rediscovered mountain bike riding as part of his mid-life crisis and has passionately enjoyed riding-off road ever since.
As well as being a certified MTBA Level 1 Skills Instructor, Mal possesses a degree in Aeronautical Engineering specialising in rocket engine science, is a Business Mentor, and an Academic Tutor. He utilises his life experiences to create a unique learning environment that focuses on overcoming mental barriers as well as developing the technical skills to put serious smiles on people’s faces.
Throughout 2018 Mal established the Gold Coast Mountain Bike Club’s free Skills Development Program. During this time he managed to provide instruction to almost 200 people throughout the year, helping them develop a love for riding while improving their self-confidence and enjoyment of the trails.
Cindy moved from Switzerland to Australia a few years ago and fell into mountain bike riding as a replacement for skiing and snowboarding. She has been riding her mountain bike for around five years and absolutely loves it.
Cindy and her beloved Santa Cruz have travelled all over the world to explore new trails in New Zealand, Whistler, Moab, Rotorua and of course her beloved homeland Switzerland. In addition to being a certified MTBA Level 1 Skills Instructor, she is also a certified Life Coach and soon to be a Certified Primal Health Coach.
Combining all three skill sets, Cindy passionately works with women to overcome their fears, anxieties and self-confidence. She helps them to push through their limiting beliefs to achieve large improvements in their health, confidence on their mountain bikes, and most importantly, massive smiles on their faces.
Cindy’s passion, patience and incredible enthusiasm helps to motivate students to have fun while learning new skills and exploring new trails. She is a firm believer that successes on the MTB trails will motivate women to fully explore what they’re capable of, not just off-road, but in all aspects of life.
With a love of technical skills Mal is passionate about improving people’s skills and riding abilities to have fun on the trails and smash through any preconceived limitations that riders have of their capabilities. He is a firm believer that the skills learnt out on the MTB trails translate to not just having fun off-road, but to having a more enjoyable outlook in all aspects of life.
